Together Towards Electronic Invoicing via Peppol
Starting in 2026, electronic invoicing will become mandatory in our country for all VAT-registered businesses. From then on, all invoices must be exchanged via the Peppol network. A PDF invoice sent by email will no longer be sufficient. Just like you, we’re getting ready for this transition. That’s why we’d like to give you an overview of what’s changing, why it’s happening, and how you can prepare.
Pe-what? Peppol is a secure European network that allows companies and organizations to exchange electronic documents in a standardized and protected way. The government has decided that, starting next year, invoicing must be done exclusively through this network.
Although it’s an adjustment, electronic invoicing via Peppol comes with several benefits:
1. Faster and more reliable invoicing:
No more typos or missing details — Peppol automatically validates all data. Invoices go straight into your accounting system, so they won't get lost in your inbox.
2. Time and cost savings:
The invoicing process is quicker because manual input is no longer needed. Scanned PDFs and paper invoices are a thing of the past.
3. Secure and trustworthy:
Peppol is a secure network, so invoices can’t be intercepted or tampered with. The automatic VAT checks also reduce the risk of errors in your VAT returns.
4. Efficient integration:
Most ERP and accounting systems are already compatible with Peppol, making implementation smoother.
5. Future-proof:
Peppol is already widely used in many other EU countries, which makes doing business internationally a lot easier.
Don’t wait until the end of 2025 to make the switch to Peppol invoicing. Your accountant can help ensure a smooth transition. You can already start testing now, so the switch will be stress-free later. At Christeyns, we’ve already completed the integration — so invoicing via Peppol is already possible today.
