Christeyns acquires majority stake in Veride
Christeyns has acquired a majority stake in Veride, a Belgian engineering company specialising in industrial water treatment and reuse. The investment builds on the existing partnership between the two companies and further strengthens Christeyns’ expertise in sustainable water management.
Based in Geel, Belgium, Veride develops and builds integrated solutions for wastewater treatment, water reuse and sludge management. The company will continue to operate under the Veride name, retaining a high degree of operational autonomy.
Building on HydRO Global Solution
In 2021, Christeyns and Veride established HydRO Global Solution (HGS), a 50:50 joint venture created to develop the international market for HydRO technology. HydRO is a compact, plug-and-play system that treats wastewater and converts it into reusable process water. In industrial laundries, the technology enables at least 80% of process water to be reclaimed, significantly reducing freshwater consumption and wastewater discharge. HydRO is also used in the food and cosmetics industries.
The development and international roll-out of HydRO have combined Veride’s engineering and water-treatment expertise with Christeyns’ process knowledge and international network. The majority stake in Veride builds on this experience and creates further opportunities to support industrial customers with water treatment and reuse.
“This marks an important step in Veride’s development and lays a solid foundation for future growth,” says Ward De Wachter, CEO of Veride. “Joining an international group gives us access to additional knowledge, expertise and a broader network, creating new opportunities to expand across Europe and beyond. At the same time, we will continue to invest in innovation and quality while retaining the operational autonomy and customer focus that have always been central to Veride.”
Expanding expertise in water and energy
The investment in Veride is part of Christeyns’ long-term strategy to help industrial customers reduce resource consumption and improve process efficiency.
In 2024, Christeyns expanded its engineering expertise through the acquisition of TBR Solutions, a specialist in energy management, energy efficiency and energy recovery. With Veride’s expertise in industrial water treatment and reuse, Christeyns can now support customers across two major areas of industrial resource consumption: water and energy.
Together, these capabilities help industrial customers reduce water and energy use, recover valuable resources and limit wastewater discharge while maintaining operational performance.
“Water and energy are central to the efficiency of many industrial processes,” says Alain Bostoen, CEO of Christeyns. “With TBR, we strengthened our expertise in energy management and recovery. Our majority stake in Veride now adds further expertise in water treatment and reuse, allowing us to support customers across both areas.”
