Meadow Partners with Christeyns to Drive Hygiene Innovation and Operational Excellence
Meadow is a leading ingredients business, partnering with the world’s biggest food manufacturers to solve their most complex challenges. Experts in the dairy, confectionery and plant-based industries, Meadow is the essential ingredient in many favourite food brands. The company employs over 500 people across five accredited sites in Chester, Peterborough, Holme-on-Spalding Moor, Dolgellau and Headcorn.
Upon review of its hygiene and cleaning operations, Meadow identified a gap in service and technical support from their existing chemical supplier which was impacting operational efficiency and compliance across multiple sites. According to Head of Technical, Debbie Scott:
“When I first started at Meadow, we identified a gap within our chemical supplier. They weren’t giving us the level of service and expertise that we really needed. We turned to Christeyns due to their well-established reputation and our own positive past experience with their service.”
Christeyns Food Hygiene Ltd, a trusted name in hygiene chemistry and services, was brought on board to transform Meadow’s cleaning and sanitisation processes. Their comprehensive approach began with a full audit of all five factories. This included evaluating chemical usage, assessing cleaning effectiveness, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
“We looked at the chemical strengths and what chemicals we were using—a deep audit on all the sites—to make sure we were compliant and cleaning as effectively as we could,” says Debbie Scott.
Christeyns delivered more than just products. Their team of CIP (Clean-In-Place) experts and hygiene specialists provided hands-on support, training through their dedicated academy, and introduced an engineering arm known as H&M Disinfection to tackle site-specific challenges.
As part of the agreed service level agreement, Christeyns Technical Service Manager – Marcin Sompolski has regular structured visits at Meadow sites to ensure continued performance, carrying out:
- CIP verifications
- Chemical safety audits
- Chemical titrations to monitor and calibrate chemical strength
The collaboration also included a drive for sustainability. Together, they identified opportunities for reducing chemical, water, and energy usage, improving efficiency across all locations.
One major innovation was the implementation of the FOAMICO system—a point-of-use foaming technology designed to streamline cleaning operations.
The partnership has delivered transformative benefits such as:
- Improved Cleaning Efficiency: Enhanced foaming consistency and simplified operator workflows.
- Boosted Operator Morale: Easier-to-use equipment reduced manual strain.
- Increased Product Quality: Better CIPs led to longer shelf life for ingredients.
- Greater Safety and Compliance: Extensive safety training and storage audits.
- Environmental Gains: Optimised cleaning reduced water and chemical usage.
- Unparalleled Service: “They genuinely care about the results out of our factories and take pride in their service,” says Debbie Scott.
