Clean-up the neighbourhood as a team
Waste reduction, sustainability and community involvement in cleaning up need to be more than just intentions – they require real commitment to make a difference.
At Christeyns, we take these values to heart, not only in thought, but also in action. This was demonstrated on Saturday 31 August when our employees from our Ghent head office took an active part in the local neighbourhood festival, the Dokfeesten, by cleaning up a number of areas.
In recent years, the area around our headquarters has undergone a major transformation. De Oude Dokken, the Old Docks, for example, has been transformed into an attractive neighbourhood to live, work and relax in as part of an urban regeneration project, and we want to help make this place even better and cleaner.
As a long-standing part of the community, we have always been keen to join in the festivities and make our presence felt as a local resident and employer. This event was an opportunity to engage with our neighbours, share information about our initiatives and demonstrate our commitment to sustainability. After all, being part of the community is something that shapes the way we do business.
In keeping with our passion for cleanliness and environmental responsibility, we organised a series of clean-up activities throughout the day. With litter pickers in hand, our colleagues – sometimes joined by their children – carried out four rounds of clean-up to ensure the festival site remained spotless. This effort wasn’t just about cleaning up; it was a demonstration of our commitment to taking care of our planet, our shared habitat.
It turned out that the Dokfeesten event was more than just a clean-up the neighbourhood for us; it was also a team-building opportunity. Not only did it strengthen our team spirit, but it also reinforced our belief that sustainability and community involvement go hand in hand.
Together, we are committed to making sustainability more than just a buzzword – it is a way of life that we are proud to lead by example.
